An Educational Psychologist’s reflections on practice, research and professional growth
Hello, and welcome to my corner of the EP world.

I’m Michelle Kong, an Educational Psychologist who trained in Hong Kong and now works in the UK local authority system. Moving from Hong Kong to the UK has given me a unique lens on educational psychology practice. I’m constantly comparing systems, questioning assumptions and discovering new ways of thinking about familiar challenges.
As EPs, we often work in isolation, yet our best insights come from shared learning. I’ve found that some of my most valuable professional growth happens in those informal moments, like a throwaway comment in peer supervision, a colleague’s different perspective on a case, or that “aha” moment during a training session.
This blog is my way of capturing and sharing those moments. Not as definitive answers, but as ongoing reflections from someone still very much learning the craft.
If you’re interested in cross-cultural perspectives on EP work, or simply want to hear from someone navigating a new professional landscape, I hope you’ll find value here.
